I live in Vancouver Island, near the ocean,, and I’m tired of being charged roaming fees. I have not left the country since February 2025, and yet—my last three bills include roaming fees.

My life is too busy right now, such that I have automatic payments set-up, to avoid any late fees anywhere. Yet—I am only now going back through my bills and I’m horrified!

My monthly invoice should be $66.08 but—May $86.27, June $79.52, July $126.56, August $95.20

I have NOT left the country…. I walk my dogs near the ocean and my phone must connect to Port Angeles or something…

I see that I can manually change this—but, PLEASE reverse these charges.

I’ve been with Koodo since 2011, and in the past year, I’ve been charged with SO many extras… it’s awful. I went into a store, the store where I bought my phone and switched my plan. They said that no one can help me. So, I’m here, posting on a board and hoping to get money reimbursed.

Please reimburse all roaming charges. I have not left the country. This has never been an issue prior to changing my plan.

Hi @Frustrated by extra charges

We have reviewed the details and we have been able to remove the roaming charges since they were triggered due to accidental data roaming, feel free to check the details in your self serve account when you get the chance.

We recommend switching data roaming off and also switch to manual network and select Koodo, this would prevent the connection to a US tower when near the border.

For more info about how to prevent accidental roaming charges, please check out this article https://community.koodomobile.com/plans-services-232910/easy-roam-understanding-how-you-will-be-charged-while-traveling-7811296

Also, feel free to check the available  plans in your self serve account, as you might be eligible for a Canada-US plan: https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/changing-your-rate-plan

With a Canada-US plan, there will be no fees for when the phone picks a US tower while near the border,. On top of that, you can use your phone without additional charges in US (some exceptions apply).
